5.22.21 Jesse + Sarah | Sullivan IL

Sarah & Jesse’s big day was so special.  Not in the same way that other weddings are special but in that just a few days prior Sarah, her sister and niece were all in a horrific car accident that resulted in them being airlifted from the scene.  They were so incredibly blessed to walk out of the hospital a few days later and even luckier to walk down the aisle just 10 days later.  Like all pandemic brides Sarah had a heap of extra obstacles to navigate but no one could have expected this.

We loved the personal details that were included in aspect of the day.  The wedding took place at her grandparent’s home in Sullivan. The walls were covered with childhood photos of Sarah and her sisters which her grandfather proudly pointed out to me.  Sarah’s dress hung on a special hook in the closet that had been placed there years earlier for the wedding dresses of her mother and other relatives.  She dressed in the room that she had coined the “Paris” room as a young girl.  There was a beautiful vintage vanity with beautiful antique glass perfume and cosmetic bottles, the perfect setting for portraits.

The ceremony took place across the yard beside the house.  White chairs perfectly lined the aisle and each end was marked by a tractor.  The grooms side with his great grandfather’s McCormick Farmall and the brides with her grandfather’s Oliver Super 88.  Her grandpa had read about other brides who had ridden on antique tractors in his tractor collector magazines and had suggested the idea to Sarah.  She happily obliged.  We were so happy she did. My favorite memory of the day is seeing Sarah crouch with anticipation peeking from the doorway of the house before climbing up with her grandpa as he proudly escorted her down the aisle.

Jesse beamed at the sight of Sarah as she approached the aisle. They both were giddy as the distance between them closed and Jesse rushed to meet her.  It was a warm but otherwise lovely day.  It was so wonderful to get to see these two again.  I am so grateful that Sarah & Jesse were able to have the special day they had hoped for for so long.  It was wonderful and we wish them both nothing but the best.
